Alex is a photographer based in Jersey City and New York City.

He uses photography to lead an interesting life, meet interesting people, and as a tool for attentiveness, and uses the excitement (or lack of excitement) when approaching a picture as an ethical compass.

Alex is currently working on a body of work analyzing his transition from law to art.  In 2012, Alex left his job as an attorney at law firm Quinn Emmanuel to pursue his passion for photography.  That transition led to a major re-analysis of his value systems and way of seeing the motivators in "high-achieving" society - comfort, safety, and status - as distinguished from the motivators in artistic society - freedom, insight, and radicalism.  He is currently photographing that transition.

Alex graduated with honors from Rutgers University with majors in philosophy and genetics in 2005, and with high honors from George Washington University Law School in 2009.  He then clerked for Judge Richard Linn on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and became a patent litigation associate at the NYC law firm of Quinn Emmanuel.  In 2012, Alex quit his job to pursue photography.  This has been wonderful.

Alex's work has been shown at ABC No Rio, the Port Authority, and Weldon Arts in NYC, and at venues on DC and Chicago.  Alex was awarded the Young Artists Grant and an Art Bank Grant from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities in 2011.  Click HERE  for a current CV.

Alex currently teaches photography at Jersey City Art School and privately, and TAs at the International Center of Photography.  He has been an intern at the Bonni Benrubi Gallery (http://www.bonnibenrubi.com/exhibitions.php) and with photography Richard Rothman (http://www.richardrothman.com/).
