Color Portraits



​Heat waves flow around her, I feel a small panic and worry as she becomes a vacuum, pulling the air inside, expanding until I have no attention for anything else.  I wait.  I wait until the tide is about to turn, just before the fear of losing the moment overwhelms me.  I speed up.  Her face loses definition behind the heat waves.  She looks surprised and suddenly serious.  It is a look I have never seen.
